Being a teaching artist means...

...getting to share your passion with the next generation of performers. While I graduated in May with my B.F.A. in Musical Theatre, Children’s Theatre and working with young artists has always been a passion of mine. After I became an assistant teacher, or "shadow", at The TRYPS Institute at Stephens College in 2012, I discovered how incredible teaching could be. It was awesome to come full circle working as a lead teacher at the TRYPS Institute! I love having the opportunity to see younger students grow up and develop a passion for an art form that I care so deeply about. From the Maples Repertory Theatre Education Team, to the In-School Players of Missouri State University, to The Coterie and Musical Theatre Heritage at Crown Center in KC; I've had the opportunity to work with so many talented and inspiring young performers! My highlights of 2019 were definitely directing The Enchanted Bookshop as the Spring Guest Artist at Topeka Civic Theatre & Academy and working with the 6th grade class at St. Paul's on Young, Scrappy, and Hungry: A Hamilton Revue for their fall performance in Kansas City, MO. Currently, I'm having a blast with my Creative Drama class at Kansas City Young Audiences!
